Even nearly a decade after her retirement, Ronda Rousey remains a hot topic on the UFC/MMA spectrum. Rousey hung it up, having conquered multiple sports. She was the first female combatant to be inducted into the UFC HOF in 2018. A ballot pro wrestler on WWE’s first all-women’s pay-per-view, she also won multiple titles and dominated entertainment wrestling. But if the first-ever US women’s Olympic Judo medalist had to make a splash, it’d be back at the “America 250” White House PPV card, right?
Wrong…Rousey and her vicious highlights set the tone of WMMA and many top crops today see a prime power scaling with her. But that’s ages past. For example, 2-time Ex-PFL Champ and current UFC Champ Kayla Harrison trained with Rousey. A 6th dan black belt Judoka with IJF Grand Slam/Grand Prix and & World titles under her belt, Harrison was poised as the better legacy, even a ‘Rowdy’ on steroids!
She’s currently the #3 in Women’s UFC Pound-for-Pound Rankings and holds the WMMA bantamweight crown. Ronda Rousey set the ladder for years to come, and it’s not just ‘Doug’ Harrison. She herself has hung it up, period, and also just had her second child. However, talks and rumblings of her MMA comeback are still doing the rounds. ‘Mommy’ Rousey, though, has her chore list full to make it to the White House South Lawn:
I am not fighting at the White House, …No..I mean, after Mike Tyson being the biggest fight of the year [on Netflix], you never say ‘no’ to a return [like that]…But I ain’t fighting on the fu*king White House — I got better sh*t to do — My kid needs pasta!

In her heyday, ‘Rowdy’ was an all-time great and WMMA pioneer. The first female fighter who kicked off the change at UFC 157, she rubber-stamped and led the charge as a dominant fighter. The inaugural WMMA bantamweight champ, Rousey, logged the most UFC title defenses [6] at the time. Along with a stout 12-2-0 stat, she was also the 1st American woman Olympic judoka to merit bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

But the Riverside, Calif., native’s last stretch in combat sports was quite a hustle. After double slumps and a drastic knockout in UFC, she was taken to be bleached off her prime days. An everlasting heel role and controversies later, she chose to hang it up. So why the renewed interest in her return?
Ronda Rousey return rumors fire up again

UFC is missing out on American staple titleholders and a single-fight contractual return for the “America 250” White House PPV card makes sense for a name like Rousey. But why’s the fight clique talking of a return still after a long beat of decade?
Rousey’s recent return to the judo mat, as seen on social media, is where it all began and sparked rumors of a return. Before this preceded postpartum-recovery and body transformation posts on her IG handle (@rondarousey), The ex-UFC titleholder has been outspoken about her health concerns related to fighting and the possibility of grazing near CTE-like effects. However, this has not deterred speculation about a potential return to the octagon.
Rousey is truly away from fighting. She had tried to dabble in independent entertainment wrestling circuits like Lucha VaVoom, ROH, and Wrestling Revolver (REVOLVER) before WWE. Once the cover star for EA SPORTS™ UFC 5, she has transitioned to acting and even has her graphic action novel “Expecting the Unexpected” with @awastudiosofficial coming out.
But given what she has done for combat sports drives the speculation of a comeback every day. For her part, Ronda Rousey has said a big spot like the White House UFC card won’t be where she returns.
