Dana White sets odds for Jon Jones White House fight

Jon Jones Return in Touble As Bossman Dana White States ‘Billion To One’ Odds For White House Fight

If tumultuous was personified and could throw hands in 4/5Oz kits, it’d be named Jon Jones. The ex-UFC HW called ‘quits’ on quitting and retracted his retirement in just two weeks. With the walk back, Jones has expressed interest in fighting at the White House card. Not if UFC CEO Dana White had something to say about it.

Top fighters are pitching in their name for the White House PPV card as part of America 250 celebrations. But very early on, Dana White snubbed ‘Bones’ from it, even though he called it his dream headliner. That’s because he does not find Jon Jones’ brand of trust as ‘trustworthy’. After UFC 319, the UFC headman and taskmaster doubled down on that sentiment.

[Trust?] Let me, Let me ask you this…What do you think Jon would do in the next couple of months that would [or could] make me trust putting him on the White House card? So I already said that I don’t trust him, and you’re asking me what could he do for me to trust him in the next three months. Hey, [even] you don’t trust him! Won’t bet on it…If I had to make odds, it’s a billion to one that I put Jon Jones on the White House card.

Jones put on a hassle, lingering for 7+ months of negotiation. White said UFC Execs were even down with his PPV compensatory demands for a heavyweight title unifier with Tom Aspinall. But Jon Jones straight up took a 180 and instead called his retirement.

So, it’s not out of character for Jones to be contentious, but this puts a dent in his trust with the boss. White cannot have walkbacks on a prime spot like the South Lawn, the Capitol Rotunda, the Washington Monument, and other such places.

To top it off, Jones isn’t exactly going spot-free these days, even though, as an American staple, he makes the best case and biggest name to fight on the card. He allegedly made drunk threats to have DFSI agent Crystal Martinez killed, now an ongoing case in the docket in a Bernalillo County, N.M. court arraignment.

This August 14th, he was also to appear virtually for double bench trials for a vehicular infraction and later threatening PSA agents, live, on call. His second hearing is slated for September 2, per Albuquerque PD public records. In a surprise twist, Dana White recently unsubscribed to notions that Conor McGregor is out of the roster, by saying he’s a more trustworthy name for the White House. All in all, it does not bode well for Jones.

Heavyweight peer started unintentional anti-Jon Jones chant right before UFC 319

With Jon Jones staged as the heavyweight champ, the division was largely stalled for a while. The Jackson’s Acoma Team fighter had taken three years to make a shift to 265 pounds, then sat out two years more. To top it off, he fought a retiring 42-year-old Stipe Miocic, largely disregarding #1 legit contender Tom Aspinall.

This even went against the brass as even Dana White said Aspinall deserved his dues, and this was the fight to make at heavyweight. Jones made only two ballot heavyweight fights in five years. In his absence, the UK native Aspinall even made a rare defense of his interim title and clashed with 4-ranked Curtis Blaydes.

Aspinall finished Blaydes with a first-round KO at UFC 304 in Manchester last year, and Blaydes, for his part, is happy the division is now moving on with Aspinall as champ. To that end, he even accidentally instigated an anti-Jones chant in unison.

We’re moving along, we don’t got to worry about Jon Jones no more…[Hey] I, I…didn’t mean to start this…[But] I mean, y’all can keep going.

The positive reinforcement about the heavyweight weight class finding its tracks again got fans to chant “fu*k Jon Jones” altogether. Something Blaydes had not anticipated, but it isn’t unnatural given there’d be quite some pent-up thoughts about it all. So to get mobbed up for stalling and quitting one of the biggest heavyweight showdowns would naturally have its consequences.
