UFC 324 BMF title fight between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira ‘leaked’

Big BMF UFC 324 Fight Announced and Scrapped By UFC Brazil Account, Starring Big Stars

Fans have criticised the UFC for its choice of a mismatched headliner for their first major event telecast on Paramount. Today, the UFC teased a potent third title scrap between top superstars for the UFC 324: Gaethje vs Pimblett PPV event, Live from T-Mobile Arena. This was to be in the form of a UFC 324 BMF title fight.

The new $7.7 billion Paramount and UFC broadcast deal, which is also the first of the non-PPV era, will be marked by the upcoming card (UFC 323 is the last PPV slot this year). With the addition of live-streaming on Paramount+, control costs are down for UFC fans, and their viewing prices could be reduced by almost a thousand dollars per year.

But mindling card orders are still there, as apparent by the latest announcements for UFC 324 and UFC 325; then came a relief. This afternoon, an announcement was accidentally shared by the official UFC Brazil media account that UFC 324 had added a third title fight. The announcement came in the form of a fight for the BMF belt, currently under Max Holloway. UFC 155-pounder Charles Oliveira would be the challenger.

Meeting of thick shells [here]! …Holloway and Charles Oliveira dispute the BMF belt at #UFC324! Confrontation to define the toughest guy in the UFC in the first event of 2026! From next year [on], …you watch ALL UFC events on Paramount+

Sources from © 2025 GRV Media Ltd and SBNation later confirmed that it was a mere miscommunication. Early internal plans for the event included a second go between Holloway and Oliveira for the “Baddest of All” title, but those plans were probably dismissed.

Dana White announced the lineup at halftime during the NFL Thanksgiving game on Thursday night, but there wasn’t a booking for Holloway vs. Oliveira. The rationale behind the fight being withdrawn, as well as the plans for a new booking, remain undisclosed. ‘Do Bronx’, the #2 lightweight, is fresh off a R2 submission win at UFC Fight Night: Oliveira vs. Gamrot.

Before that, Oliveira had laid into many peers for not accepting callups to fight, and was even uneager as he was waiting to climb to the top of the pecking order once again. That doesn’t seem the case yet; Holloway is fresh off his win at UFC 318: Holloway vs. Poirier 3 and now boasts wins over two former top contenders. He, too, might be waiting it out for a top shot.

Instead, the UFC 324 feature main event will be headlined by Paddy Pimblett vs. Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title slot. The co-main is a much-awaited GOAT matchup – Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight title. The next fight down the queue is Sean O’Malley vs. Song Yadong.

There’s a lot to gripe with as #1 lightweight Arman Tsarukyan is still in the waiting wing. Surging British contender Pimblett gets his chance at the title at UFC 324 without a ranked win over anyone in the top 10 in the division. The No.#7, #8, or even #11 guy/gal has gotten those chances before, but usually in these cases, they are former top contenders or champs, or title challengers with previous ranked wins or a good bounceback.

A BMF shaped fight was to be the saving grace, and a barnburner. The situation was further complicated by the announcement that Alexander Volkanovski vs. Diego Lopes 2 would headline the UFC 325 PPV card in a (now) needless rematch. Viewers have alleged that the UFC is emulating the WWE, and have even issued a veiled threat of a boycott despite the move to Paramount and lower costs.
